Product and Advantages:
Phase 1: The construction of a communal hut for the children of Bright Kids Uganda will strengthen security as well as create a healthy environment. This project ensures that all children currently at the Bright Kids Uganda home will have proper shelter and adequate space outside their dormitories to play, eat, and do school work. Currently, the children spend a majority of their time in their dorms, which is decreasing cleanliness within the sleeping areas. The communal hut will promote better health, increased social interactions, and foster increased academic performance through the construction of a shared space.
Goals for phase 1:
- Provide healthy and clean communal area for the children
- Support sanitation within the dormitories
- Increase socialization between the children
Thanks to the generous donation made by The 2nd Monkspath Scouts of the UK, the initial phase of the communal hut project has been funded. Building is still in progress.
Phase 2: We would like to begin the second phase of the project and build a second story office. Since the current dormitories are a short distance from the main BKU compound, a full-time presence is needed to oversee the facilities. The office is necessary to provide 24-hour supervision for the children, oversee the dormitories, and manage the property.
Goals for Phase 2:
- Provide 24-hour care and supervision
- Manage the dormitory property
- Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the dormitories
